Beyond the Green Carpet: The importance of grasslands in the era of climate breakdown – An online talk
Thursday, 18th November 2021, 19:00 - 20:00
Grasslands cover about a third of the global land surface, yet they remain overlooked in terms of impacts from and solutions to climate breakdown.
Which plants will be the winners and losers during drought periods? And how will the structure of plant communities change?
This talk will introduce a climate change study that looks at the effect of drought on a UK calcareous grassland. The talk will weave in the importance of grassland ecosystems and how grassland droughts are studied both locally and globally.
Sara L Middleton, PhD candidate in plant ecology at the University of Oxford.
